This copy is in near fine condition with a square, tight binding, bright spine lettering, and clean pages throughout; the book does show some mild rubbing to the ends and edges and some light age-toning to the pastedowns and free papers. Housed in a clean and bright very good dust jacket that shows some fading to the spine, moderate rubbing and chipping to the ends and edges, and a trim to the top of the front flap (price intact on the bottom of the front flap). Overall, a very presentable and collectible copy of a scarce book; not remaindered, not ex-library; protected in a Mylar sleeve and will ship well packaged in a sturdy box.

Henry Morgenthau, Sr. (18656-1946) served as the United States Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I, under President T. Woodrow Wilson had a successful career as a lawyer, real estate investor, and the Reform Jewish community leader in New York City.This work by Morgenthau is the definitive account of the Armenian Genocide during the last years of the Ottoman Empire, as well as his views on the creation of a Jewish State. His son, Henry Morgenthau Jr. served as the Secretary of the Treasury for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. His grandson, Robert M. Morgenthau, would serve as the District Attorney for Manhattan for 35 years.

All pages with a printed red ruled border. Original brown pebble grained cloth on bevelled edges boards with gilt lettering to the front cover and spine. Blind stamped rule and decorative corner borders on both boards. There is a split to the cloth on about a third of the lower outer hinge, but the book is still tight and intact. Original dark brown coated endpapers.
