His seal is affixed to the title page. There is a slight tear on the front end page and some wrinkling on the page also. The pages are crisp, white and clean. His book 'Regula Pastoralis' or 'Pastoral Care', is a work clearly explaining and describing the responsibilities of the clergy. It is often considered the most influential and important work written on the topic of the role of preachers and ecclesiastical fathers.

At the end of November 1803, the Teyler's Religious Society in Haarlem organized a competition. A treatise was to be prepared on the question, "What service have missionaries done to the propagation of true Christianity in the past two centuries, and what fruit is there been to expected from the present active missionary societies in this regard?". Recto: 50 lines of Latin text written in two columns in a gothic bookhand on high quality vellum. Ruled in red, some versal initials touched in yellow. Two fine illuminated three-line initials in blue, black, salmon and white, detailed with burnished gold begin Chapters 23 and 24. Chapter numbers and heading EXO (half the running title EXODUS) in blue and red. A bar border of blue, black, salmon and white runs the length of each column of text. Radiating into the margins are decorations of ivy leaves in blue and red finished with burnished gold. The bar border of the right column terminates with a dragon's head. Scholars' notes in gothic bookhands in the right margin.
Verso: As Recto, with one illuminated initial, one chapter number, one bar border and an extremely delicate pen decoration touched with salmon in the centre space.
