Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Trade Edition. Bound by Whitman Bennett bindery (1 of 12 bound by Whitman Bennett) in full decorated crushed morocco, with a note by the author. Beautiful, marbled endpapers. Gilt text block edges. Tight and square binding. Edges and hinges rubbed. Stephen Vincent Benet, a prominent early 20th century poet, wrote his most famous book-length poem about the Civil War. Benét won the Pulitzer Prize for his acclaimed poem named after the song about the great martyr for emancipation, John Brown.

[Lincoln][Ohio] Memorial Badge worn by Ohio Veterans. [Marietta, Ohio?]: [Washington County Veteran Association] [Circa 1915?] Medal. 9 cm total. Hanger is of a brass type metal with a celluloid "Member" plaque. A red, white, and blue ribbon is attached to a celluloid disk (4.5 cm) with the likeness of President Abraham Lincoln. Written around Lincoln's likeness is "Washington County, Ohio, Veterans Association - 1861 - 1865". Very good.
OCLC shows no holdings. A badge worn by Union veterans who were members of the Washington County, Ohio, Veterans Association. The was a documented reunion of the Washington County Veteran Association held in Marietta, Ohio, October 13, 14, 15, 1915. Washington County sent some 4,000 soldiers to fight in the Civil War.

St. Johns certified that , a resident of Carthage, Panola County, Texas was registered as a qualified elector of the Panola County. Impassioned speech condemning the recently passed federal Fugitive Slave Law, delivered at Boston’s Melodeon Theater, Sunday, September 22, 1850 by celebrated reformer Theodore Parker who, although an ordained Unitarian minister, later rejected much of Unitarian theology and dedicated himself to Transcendentalism, becoming a leading figure in the movement. Parker’s views were wont to create considerable conflict in both religious and secular circles, as here where he advocates the murder of officers of the law by their captured fugitive slaves as justifiable under the guise of self-defense.
