In August 1927, writing from Karachi, he told Edward Garnett that he had arranged notes in sections and was copying them as a Christmas gift to Garnett. This rare end-of-war report on Switzerland's armed forces and defence is particularly interesting because of the manuscript signature of first owner Le colonel de cavalerie Albert de Tscharner, last of the great Swiss merceneries who died in 1948. It is offered as a companion book to Bernard Barbey: P. C. du Général which includes an autograph dedicace to de Tscharner by Général Guisan.
