Tirage gélatino-argentique d'époque, aucune mention, traits de crayon rouge pour le recadrage (très probablement de la main de Folon). Nous connaissons le négatif de cette photographie et pouvons donc sans le moindre doute l'attribuer à Folon. La flèche est un élément essentiel, récurrent, voire obsessionnel dans l'oeuvre de Folon. Il en photographiait lui-même énormément et demandait à ses amis de lui donner des tirages de clichés de flèches ou autres signes urbains qu'ils pouvaient prendre. Notons enfin que Folon faisait faire la plupart du temps un unique tirage de ses photos, deux au maximum et souvent aucun. Tirage très légèrement jauni sur les bords des marges..

Original Photograph 9 1/2" X 7 1/2" Of Jfk At A Restaurant Or Night Club With Frank Longo [ Founder Of Longo Toyota, Which Became The Largest Auto Dealership In The World], Circa 1959/1960. This Is A Much Thinner Kennedy Than We Are Used To Seeing. Kennedy And Longo Are At A Small Cocktail Or Dinner Table, Perhaps At A Banquet Or Night Club. Inscribed, Signed And Dated 6-1-1962 As By Jfk & Gjc (?), But This Is Not Kennedy's Usual Signature, And An Authoritative Source Confirms That Kennedy Was Never This Thin After He Was President, So The Photograph Itself Probably Dates From His California Campaign Circa 1959 / 1960. The Kennedy Archives Have No Record Of The Photograph Being Sent In For A Signature Around That Date. It Was Probably Signed By "Gjc" For The President. The Photo Is From Personal Collection Of A Longo Family Member.

The whole connected between two large (1 3/4 inch) dowel halves on one end. The salesman could add various portraits to the assemblage by separating the two half dowels, adding additional portraits, and screwing the assemblage together again. This example has a linen guard to protect the paper portrait as it is rolled and snapped shut. Leather roll is approx 17 inches wide and two foot long. Portrait in this case is of a distinguished man in a suit, shoulders up. Marked on the rear of this portrait (which is paper laid onto linen) is a stamp "Crayon" and various sizes and costs. Generally good condition, with some soiling to the faux leather, and minor creasing to the portrait. Large photographic prints were expensive and difficult to store and transport. Very Good. Mounted gelatin silver photograph. Likely taken between 1900 and 1910. No photographer information. Previous owner has written on verso in pencil "Hunters 1905 winter. Guthrie area Oklahoma c. 1908. Central OK near the Cimmaron[sic] River." Photograph measures 6 x 8 inches and mount measures 9 ¾ x 11 ¼ inches. Photograph has moderate yellowing; mount has moderate creasing and sticker residue on verso. Overall very good. This image depicts a large group with their rifles and at least four dead coyotes. It looks like the whole town came out for the hunt with men, women and children pictured. .

Great image of a Mexican Vaquero on horseback, wearing leather chaps and watering his pinto cowpony. Original Smith images with his stamp are uncommon on the market. "Growing up in Bonham, Texas, Erwin Smith knew he wanted to be a cowboy and an artist. The era of great trail drives was ending, and he was determined to document the open-range lifestyle before it disappeared completely.
