No marks or creases, near new.

1965. Photo. Illus. by Jean-Michel Folon. Bon. Aucune reliure. 39,5 x 30 cm (feuille), 33,8 x 24,2 cm (image). Tirage gélatino-argentique d'époque, aucune mention, traits de crayon rouge pour le recadrage (très probablement de la main de Folon). Nous connaissons le négatif de cette photographie et pouvons donc sans le moindre doute l'attribuer à Folon. La flèche est un élément essentiel, récurrent, voire obsessionnel dans l'oeuvre de Folon. Il en photographiait lui-même énormément et demandait à ses amis de lui donner des tirages de clichés de flèches ou autres signes urbains qu'ils pouvaient prendre. Notons enfin que Folon faisait faire la plupart du temps un unique tirage de ses photos, deux au maximum et souvent aucun. Tirage très légèrement jauni sur les bords des marges..

Goupil, Paris, 1880; Woodburytype photograph by Ferdinand Mulnier of eminent sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi (1834-1904), renowned for his design, in 1878, of the Statue of Liberty. An equally accomplished painter, Bartholdi nevertheless chose to work under the pseudonym "Amilcar Hasenfratz" when creating his popular paintings of Egyptian themes, fearing they might detract from his fame as a sculptor. Photo measures approximately 3 1/2" x 5", mounted on the first of twelve 11" x 14" leaves of biographical and critical text by Charles Lefevbre. Additionally laid in is a large 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" photo, mounted on 11" x 14" card, of the Bartholdi sculpture "Rouget de Lisle." All text in French. From the 19th century "Galerie Contemporaine" photographic collection of leading figures from the arts and sciences, published in Paris by Goupil and issued in parts from 1876 to 1884. Hollywood, California, 1923; Antique 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" b&w silver gelatin photograph of Mary Pickford as "Rosita" in the 1923 silent film of the same name directed by Ernst Lubitsch. Long tired of being type-cast as a child, even in maturity, "Rosita" was Pickford’s personal project, designed as a breakout vehicle for her first appearance in an adult role. Multitalented Knute Olaf Rahmn (1876-1957) served in early Hollywood as actor, cinematographer, and photographer, with over forty films to his credit.
