"British Sports and Sportsmen" is a rare, early 20th-century survey of famous hunters, cricketers, footballers, and animal racers of Great Britain – men who held prominent positions throughout England whether political or societal. The unnamed author begins this collection of biographies with figures from the mid-18th-century, most notably Hugo Meynell, the father of modern fox hunting for his role in the Quorn Hunt.

This 1908 limited edition was published as part of only 250 copies. This particular two-volume, folio example is numbered no. 189 and is filled with hundreds of portrait engravings!
